~Is Fiona a registered acupuncturist?

Yes, Fiona is a registered Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (R.TCM.P). This means she is licenced with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA of BC) to preform acupuncture and prescribe traditional Chinese medicine.

~Is acupuncture covered by my extended health care insurance?

Yes, most extended health care providers cover acupuncture. Everyone's coverage differs, so it is best to check what your specific plan covers before hand.

~Does Fiona do direct billing?

YES! Direct billing now available with the following providers:

  • Pacific Blue Cross

  • Great West Life

  • Manual Life

  • Sunlife Financial

  • Green Shield

  • RCMP and Veteran's Affairs

  • MSP Premium Assistance

  • ICBC claims after April 1, 2019 (see blog post for more ICBC info)

~Does MSP cover acupuncture?

Yes, if you qualify for Premium Assistance then MSP will cover up to $23 per visit for up to 10 visits per year. To find out if you qualify, please visit:

~What is acupuncture good for?

EVERYTHING!  Well almost, the World Health Organization feels there is sufficient studies to recommend acupuncture for the following conditions:

  • Adverse reactions to radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy

  • Allergic rhinitis (including hay fever)

  • Biliary colic

  • Depression (including depressive neurosis and depression following stroke)

  • Dysentery, acute bacillary

  • Dysmenorrhoea, primary Epigastralgia, acute (in peptic ulcer, acute and chronic gastritis, and gastrospasm)

  • Facial pain (including craniomandibular disorders)

  • Headache

  • Hypertension, essential Hypotension, primary

  • Induction of labour

  • Knee pain

  • Leukopenia

  • Low back pain

  • Malposition of fetus

  • Correction of Morning sickness

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Neck pain Pain in dentistry (including dental pain and temporomandibular dysfunction)

  • Periarthritis of shoulder

  • Postoperative pain

  • Renal colic

  • Rheumatoid arthritis 

  • Sciatica

  • Sprain

  • Stroke

  • Tennis elbow
