What to expect from your facial acupuncture treatment?
At Fine Feather, your facial acupuncture treatment begins with a thorough health history focusing on your main skin concerns. Based on your specific needs and concerns, Fiona will select acupuncture points not only on the face but also on the body to help improve your skin’s overall health. With the needles in place, you will relax for about 30 minutes. Afterwards, the needles are removed and Fiona will proceed with gentle facial massage using specialized rose quartz gua sha tools and silicone facial cups. Treatment is finished off with a cooling and detoxifying obsidian roller massage.
For best results 5-10 consistent weekly treatments are recommended with monthly maintenance treatments afterwards.
Acupuncture for facial rejuvenation?
Facial acupuncture is a non-invasive treatment that involves using acupuncture to improve skin and fight the ageing process. Sometimes referred to as an acupuncture face-lift, facial rejuvenation, or cosmetic acupuncture, it often is used as an alternative to surgical face-lifts and other conventional procedures said to reverse signs of ageing in the skin.
Facial acupuncture can help reduce wrinkles, diminish fine lines, remove age spots, and lift droopy eyelids. Most courses of cosmetic acupuncture treatment involve 10 or more sessions, as well as additional sessions for maintenance of results.
How does facial acupuncture work?
Facial acupuncture improves skin and act as an anti-ageing treatment in part by stimulating the production of collagen (a protein that acts as a major component of your skin). As you age, your skin's inner layer loses collagen and, as a result, becomes less supple and firm. The acupuncture needles are inserted into specific areas on the face and neck which stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory system, which work together to deliver nutrients and oxygen to your skin cells, nourishing skin from the inside out. This helps even out your complexion and promote your skin’s glow. The positive micro-traumas also stimulates the production of collagen. This helps improve elasticity, minimizing fine lines and wrinkles.
Facial acupuncture can help rejuvenate your skin by improving your overall energy. Every facial treatment is part of a holistic approach to healing. Not only will treatment focus on your skin’s health but will work on other body systems related to the health of your skin.
Cupping for facial rejuvenation?
If you are familiar with cupping therapy, facial cupping varies slightly but is still based o the same principals. Facial cups are usually smaller and made soft flexible silicone. The cups are used to gently pull the skin away from deeper layers of fascia. This increases blood flow to the area and rejuvenates the skin without leaving cup marks behind. With time and consistency, this practice improves one’s complexion and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles.
However, cupping therapy applied on the body is primarily used to alleviate aches and pains. On the body, cup marks which fade as your lymphatic system processes the waste. Facial cupping is more gentle and almost never leaves cupping marks.
How does cupping work to rejuvenate the face?
The suction effect of the cups pull blood into the area of skin underneath which floods the surrounding tissue with new blood and promotes blood vessel formation. Cupping can also promotes sterile inflammation- this is a good type of inflammation. Sterile inflammation sends signals to the body to send new RBC and WBC to the stimulated area to further heal and rejuvenate.
